Update 29 Nov 2020:
Hirers with Regular Bookings at the Hall
The Charles Morris Hall will
reopen to regular hirers of the Hall from the start of business on Wednesday, 02
December 2020 until further notice.
The above statement is based on a
Government document published on 23 November 2020 which sets
out the local restriction tier system that will be in place from
Wednesday, 02 December 2020 (assuming (i) parliament votes on Tuesday, 01 December 2020
in favour of said tiers and (ii) Hertfordshire is placed in Tier 2 until at least 16 December
2020, the date of the first review of tier allocation).
All Tiers
Across all tiers, everyone:
All businesses and venues that are open are
expected to follow COVID-19
secure guidelines to protect customers, visitors and workers. In
tiers 1-3, the following businesses and venues can remain open:
- certain leisure and sporting facilities
such as gyms, sports courts and facilities,
leisure centres,
fitness and dance studios, golf courses, swimming pools, riding
centres, outdoor playgrounds – subject to relevant social
contact rules in each tier.
- public buildings, such as libraries,
community centres and halls.
It is the opinion of this Booking
Officer that the Charles Morris Hall and the regular bookings which
take place therein are covered by the text in the paragraph above
highlighted in red and this is what
informs the decision to enable the Hall to reopen on Wednesday, 02
December 2020.
Tier 2: High Alert
In tier 2:
you must not socialise with anyone you
do not live with or who is not in your support bubble in any
indoor setting, whether at home or in a public place
businesses and venues can continue to
operate, in a COVID-Secure manner,
other than those which remain closed by law, such as nightclubs
organised indoor sport, physical
activity and exercise classes will only be permitted if it is
possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live
with (or share a support bubble with). There are exceptions for
indoor disability sport, sport for educational purposes and
supervised sport and physical activity for under-18s, which can
take place with larger groups mixing
you can continue to travel to venues or
amenities which are open, but should aim to reduce the number of
journeys you make where possible
